There is nothing to prepare before you buy. No account to open first, no username to hand over at checkout, no form on Borneo's site to fill in. You order, an activation code lands in your email, and the code does everything else from inside the application.
That last part is the bit people get wrong, because most tools in this category work the other way round.
Step 1 — Place the order
Pick a licence from the pricing page and order it. The only field that matters is your email address, because that is where the activation code is sent. A typo there is the one mistake that costs you time.
Activation codes are issued in 1–6 hours. If it has not arrived after that window, check your spam folder before messaging us — that is where it is roughly half the time.
Step 2 — Install the runtime first
Borneo Schematics draws its entire interface through Microsoft Edge WebView2. If that runtime is missing or older than version 149, the app installs cleanly and then closes about a second after you launch it, with no error at all.
Install the official Borneo Runtime Installer before the app itself — it bundles WebView2, .NET Framework 4.8 and the Visual C++ redistributables — then reboot. Skipping this is the single most common reason a fresh install appears dead.
Step 3 — Install to drive C
Download the current setup from updateborneo.com (our download page mirrors the same official links) and install it to drive C. The application expects to find itself there, and installs onto a second drive or a mapped path cause problems that look like licensing faults but are not.
Add the install folder to your antivirus exclusions before extracting. Repair tooling trips heuristic scanners routinely, and a half-quarantined install is much harder to diagnose than a blocked one.
Step 4 — Run the app and press Register
Open C:\Borneoschematic and start the .exe. On the sign-in screen choose Register New User — not sign in, because the account does not exist yet.
Copy the activation code from your email and paste it in. Copy it; do not retype it. Codes are long and a single wrong character reads to the server as an invalid code rather than a typo.
Fill in the account details you want to use from now on. The account is created at this moment, by you, with the code as its key — which is why nothing needed to exist beforehand.
Step 5 — Sign in and check the expiry date
Sign in with the account you just created. The panel shows your expiry date; that is your confirmation the licence applied. From here you can search a model and open its schematic and boardview — the how-to-use guide covers the tracing workflow.
What if I already have an account?
Then this is not your guide. Do not press Register — that creates a second account and your new time lands on the wrong one. Choose Renewal instead and paste the code there, which extends the account you already use. The renewal guide walks through it.
If the code will not activate
- Copy, do not type. Paste the code straight from the email.
- Check you pressed Register, not Renewal — and the reverse if you already had an account.
- Codes are single-use. If one has already been consumed, it will not work a second time.
